Home Reading:
We will be starting our Home Reading Program in the coming weeks. Your child will take home English books to start and French books after Christmas. I will send more information explaining what the expectations are at that time.
T.W.A.S.
Starting Friday, your child will be sharing their weekly school experience journals with you. This program is called T.W.A.S (This Week At School). It gives students the opportunity to share special and exciting events from their school week with you.
Every Friday, your child will bring home his/her journal. Please have your child read to you about their week and discuss with you his/her experiences. Please take the time to write back to your child at the end of his/her entry and ensure your child returns the journal to school the following Monday.
This program will help promote communication between you and your child. This is a wonderful time to ask questions and learn more about your child’s learning. He/She will enjoy sharing with you, as well as reading your response to their week.
Spelling
We will be starting a spelling program in the next coming weeks. On Monday, your child will bring home a spelling list to practice throughout the week. If he/she didn’t bring home a list, please mark it down in the agenda and I will make sure he/she brings one home. They will also be practicing their words during our Daily 5 (center work) time. On Friday (Thursday if we don’t have school Friday), they will have a spelling test. I will mark their tests and send them home to be signed and returned the following Monday.
Library
We will have library once a cycle on day 5. Your child will bring home 2 books provided that the previously borrowed books are returned. We will write a note in the agenda to help remind children to return their books.
